I wrote this statement at some time, probably very frustrated about the usual chit-chat.

Many times when I mention something that I am concerned about or working on in the project, I get an egotistical chit-chat answer that the other person is trying to put me down, and make themselves the better. And then they just babble some non-sense, and expect me to react as though that is great.

Sorry, but nobody has, and probably never will impress me with crap they make up on the spot.

The "to your name" part can also include quoting or referencing someone else's text, and just that you agree / adopt that as your own opinion/etc. as well.
